Helen followed her undergraduate Physics degree with experimenting with various careers while trying to figure out ‘what she wanted to be when she grew up’. Having finally worked that out a few years ago aged 36, she is now the Minister-in-Training here at Laindon Baptist Church, working at church part-time whilst in her final year of study at Regent’s Park College in Oxford. She shares her home with her two teenage children, one dog, three chickens, two chinchillas and two hamsters! She enjoys puzzles of various sorts, Disney movies and drinking tea, especially with friends, and wishes she was better at house work.
Hello & Welcome
Believing in God’s Word and Spirit
We hope that this site gives you some idea of the ‘flavour’ of our life together. We aren’t particularly flashy, many of us struggle with too much technology, but we are a warm and welcoming family. From a variety of backgrounds, at different ages and stages of our faith journey, we meet every week with focus on worship of God and loving support of one another. If you want to grow in your faith journey, in company with a diverse group of imperfect people who will try their best to love and encourage you, please feel free to come and visit us!
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Jesus, John 13: 34-35

Discipleship
Discipleship is concerned with following the way Jesus lived and taught, trying to be more like him in our relationship with others in and through the church. We bring all those together today and look at discipleship as a whole, not just Sunday mornings.
