EXPRESSING FAITH
OUR BELIEFS
Bound Together by Love
Our church members/visitors come from diverse backgrounds and may have different ideas about many issues. But we agree on the following:
We believe in God the Father, creator and sustainer of all things and lover of all that he has made. We believe in God the Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who came to earth in the flesh of humanity, lived, died and was raised that all who believe in him may have life eternal.
We believe in God the Holy Spirit, sent to us to keep and guide us in our Christian lives. We also believe that we are human; frail, broken and yet loved and forgiven, and that God has a purpose for us in the world.
Declaration of Principle
As a church (again, individuals might take differing views on some of these), we acknowledge the Baptist Declaration of Principle, which states:
That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws.
That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who ‘died for our sins according to the Scriptures; was buried, and rose again the third day’.
That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world.
